What you love about your job
Structural engineering, for me, has always been about the people and the team. Behind every building are countless calculations—but also conversations, brainstorming sessions, discarded sketches, urgent site calls, and even the occasional ‘working’ meeting over a beer. What I love most are the relationships we form along the way.
Fun facts
Harrison loves to run (… and occasionally write) and spent the better portion of his life training to beat his dad’s marathon time.

Harrison Glotman 2026 Finalist

Principal at Glotman Simpson

Glotman Simpson

Harrison Glotman is a rare combination of deep technical expertise and a genuine, people-first approach to structural engineering leadership. A third-generation leader at Glotman Simpson, he carries the firm’s legacy forward while pushing it into new territory, overseeing complex projects that span mass timber offices, steel schools, and concrete towers across Canada and the United States. A central focus of Harrison’s work is advancing sustainable design, including improving how embodied carbon is measured and reduced in structural systems. He has also played a key role in expanding the firm’s expertise in mass timber, bringing this knowledge beyond project delivery by regularly speaking at industry conferences. Under his leadership, the firm continues to deliver landmark projects across North America in a wide range of sectors, from residential towers to hospitals and schools. Equally important to Harrison is developing the next generation of engineers—encouraging growth through mentorship, trust, and meaningful ownership of major projects. Colleagues and clients alike note his ability to translate complex structural and seismic challenges into clear, practical decisions that teams can act on with confidence. This skill allows him to unlock ambitious architectural and structural ideas without losing sight of constructability, cost, or schedule. When projects are intricate or fast-tracked, Harrison is known for holding the big picture, while still sweating the details.
