Andrew Kavanagh2026 Finalist

Vice President, Finance & Procurement at Aecon Group

Aecon Group

Andrew Kavanagh is exceptional because he treats finance as a strategic engine for the business, not just a reporting function. He joined Aecon’s finance team as a co-op student in 2010, quickly earned a full-time role, and has steadily taken on more responsibility until being named vice-president, finance at Aecon Utilities. One of his biggest impacts has been reshaping how Aecon Utilities uses finance and procurement to drive performance instead of simply tracking it. As Vice-President, his scope covers finance, procurement and continuous improvement for the utilities business, and he has been integral to the success of that team. Under his leadership, the utilities group has pursued innovation and lean construction approaches while building a more efficient supply chain, helping the business deliver work more competitively and reliably. Colleagues say Andrew has a rare ability to connect financial performance, procurement strategy and field operations in a way that unlocks practical change. Many finance leaders can analyze numbers, but Andrew is known for linking those numbers to specific improvements in supply chain, project controls and construction methods.
