What do you like most about your current job?
Each day I’m challenged and able to use my technical and strategic skills on infrastructure projects that will benefit Ontario’s communities for decades and I get to do this alongside a group of incredibly smart and passionate colleagues. I couldn't ask for more in a job.
Best career advice
Be comfortable with complexity and uncertainty. The built industry rewards those who can remain thoughtful under pressure, communicate clearly, and make balanced decisions even when information is incomplete. Be curious, ask questions early, spend time understanding how projects are actually delivered, not just how they are structured on paper and don't underestimate your ability to learn new things.

Amy Sorrenti2026 Finalist

Insurance Risk Director at Infrastructure Ontario

Infrastructure Ontario

Amy is an invaluable resource for IO as it navigates insurance risk for major capital projects. She’s also exceptional at team building and coordinating efforts across the different teams.  Despite being an expert in her field, Amy is always curious to learn more about other aspects that may or may not directly be related to her line of work. She welcomes others’ perspectives and makes sure she takes different perspectives and views into consideration in her work. Amy has helped IO achieve critical project milestones in a timely manner by staying on top of her work, taking a proactive approach, coordinating single handedly with multi-disciplinary teams and that has helped IO set standards for other projects and build a reputation as a sophisticated agency.
