EllisDon Corporation has been selected as the construction contractor for the Alliance Development Phase of the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia’s Acute Care Tower Phase 1, a $1.579 billion project that will advance through design and early works through the end of 2026 before construction begins in 2027 and the facility opens to patients in 2031.

The 211-room acute care tower will expand cardiac, surgical, and mental health services at the northern B.C. hospital. The facility will include 12 new operating suites, perioperative services, and landscaped outdoor spaces.

The project is being delivered through an Alliance Model, a collaborative delivery method that emphasizes shared accountability and cooperation among project partners working on a best-for-project basis.
