Sprint Mechanical acquires David C Little Contracting
Sprint Mechanical Inc. has acquired David C Little Contracting, adding in-house HVAC and sheet metal capabilities to its existing piping and fabrication services. The deal builds on a 15-year subcontractor relationship and integrates the two teams to better serve clients across laboratories, institutional buildings, community centres, and warehouses in the regions where they operate.
Bird Infrastructure consolidates Tin Knockers Custom operations
Bird Infrastructure has completed its acquisition of Tin Knockers Custom, which officially began operating under the Bird Infrastructure name on November 1, 2025. The specialty trades team, which joined Bird’s operations in 2021, brings metal fabrication, design, and installation expertise across Canada. The consolidation unifies the groups under a single brand while preserving the specialized capabilities Tin Knockers Custom is known for.
Black Diamond Group buys Royal Camp Services
Black Diamond Group has completed its acquisition of Royal Camp Services Ltd., including Summit Camps and Primco Dene Royal Camp Services. The combined business now provides nearly 12,000 rooms of remote workforce accommodations capacity across Canada, offering turnkey solutions that include catering and hospitality. The deal strengthens Black Diamond’s position as an integrated provider in the workforce accommodations sector and aligns two experienced teams under one platform.
TransAlta to acquire four Ontario gas plants
TransAlta Corp. has agreed to acquire Far North Power Corp. and its four natural gas-fired power plants in Ontario from affiliates of Hut 8 Corp. and Macquarie Equipment Finance Ltd. for $95 million. The facilities in Iroquois Falls, Kingston, North Bay, and Kapuskasing will add 310 megawatts of capacity to TransAlta’s portfolio, bringing its total in the province to about 1,300 MW. The transaction, funded through cash on hand and existing credit facilities, is expected to close in early Q1 2026.
Qualus acquires Wood’s North American T&D business
Qualus Corporation has acquired John Wood Group PLC’s North American Transmission & Distribution engineering business, which is headquartered in British Columbia and employs approximately 250 professionals. The divested unit provides power infrastructure engineering services across Canada and the United States and marks a key milestone in Wood’s non-core disposal program. For Qualus, the acquisition expands its presence and client base in Canada while adding complementary resources to serve growing demand for power engineering services.
RAM Construction adds Southern Projects to group
RAM Construction Inc. has welcomed Southern Projects Inc. into its family of companies as part of its growth and diversification strategy. The partnership broadens RAM’s capabilities across a wider range of work, from large-scale builds to specialized projects. CIMA+ acquires Lakeland Consulting
Montreal-based CIMA+ has acquired Lakeland Consulting, an Oakville-based firm that has supported the construction industry since 2007. Effective November 1, the deal expands CIMA+’s commercial management services and strengthens its capacity in Ontario and across Canada. Lakeland adds depth in procurement, strategic advising, cost and schedule planning, and claims management, complementing CIMA+’s existing project support for contractors, owners, and legal counsel.
Arcadis and Spanier Group form strategic partnership
Arcadis and Spanier Group have launched a strategic partnership focused on delivering people-centred destinations, social infrastructure, and city-building projects across Ontario. Led by Scott Arbuckle, Toronto City Executive under Arcadis’ Global Cities Program, and Rob Spanier, President of Spanier Group, the collaboration builds on years of joint work with developers such as Sevoy, Trinity Point, and Lakeview Community Partners Limited. The partnership is designed to support Ontario’s and Canada’s push for community-driven housing and development initiatives.
PowerBank, Orbit AI pursue orbital cloud
PowerBank Corporation is partnering with Orbit AI on the Orbital Cloud, a space-based infrastructure that combines decentralized satellite connectivity (DeStarlink) with solar-powered orbital AI data centres (DeStarAI) in low Earth orbit. Genesis-1, the first satellite, is slated to launch in December 2025, with a full constellation build-out targeted for 2027–28 to capture what the partners estimate is a more than $700-billion market opportunity in in-orbit connectivity and compute, with PowerBank supplying solar energy and thermal control systems.
ThirdGen Timber Group takes majority in Canadian Timberframes
ThirdGen Timber Group has acquired a majority stake in Canadian Timberframes Ltd., bringing together more than 85 years of combined log and timber expertise across True North Log & Timber Homes in Muskoka, Canadian Timberframes in Golden, B.C., and Legacy North Construction Management. The new platform will deliver a full spectrum of log homes, timber frames and mass timber construction, positioning the group to take on more complex wood projects and support growing demand for sustainable, wood-based design in Canada.
Crozier Mechanical rebrands as Crozier MultiTech
Crozier Mechanical has rebranded as Crozier MultiTech, reflecting its evolution from a mechanical contractor into a fully integrated construction solutions provider under CEO Frédéric Perrier. Since 2022, the Ontario-based firm has added plumbing, electrical and HVAC services and launched a service division in 2024, and now aims to use its updated brand to pursue multi-trade projects with a client-first, innovation-focused approach across Ontario and beyond.
Northstar wins 5-year Calgary shingle recycling contract
Northstar Clean Technologies has signed a five-year contract with the City of Calgary to process asphalt shingles at its Empower Calgary Facility starting in April 2026. The plant, which the company bills as North America’s first commercial-scale asphalt shingle recovery operation, uses its proprietary BEST technology to process up to 80,000 tonnes of material annually, recovering liquid asphalt, aggregate, fibre and limestone for reuse, and is expected to create up to 30 local jobs while cutting lifecycle CO₂ emissions by about 60 per cent.
QuadReal sells The Post
The Post redevelopment in Vancouver has changed hands in what industry watchers say is one of the largest office trades in the city’s history. QuadReal Property Group announced it has sold the mixed-use complex at 349 West Georgia Street, while retaining the property management role for the 1.1-million-sq.-ft. office and retail asset. The company did not disclose the buyer or price in its release, but international business outlets have reported the purchaser as Pontegadea, the global real estate investment firm of Zara founder Amancio Ortega, in a deal valued at about $1.1 billion.
